BANGLADESH AIR FORCE DEPLOYS UN CONTINGENTS IN MALI

Dhaka, December 15:- Bangladesh Air Force is going to deploy 2 contingents comprising 240 BAF members and 03 MI-17 helicopters at United Nations Peacekeeping Mission in Mali (MINUSMA). As part of deployment, the first group comprising 107 BAF members left Dhaka today Monday (15-12-2014) for Mali by UN chartered aircraft. These contingents of Bangladesh Air Force comprise of Bangladesh Utility Aviation Unit-1 and Bangladesh Airfield Support & Management Unit-1 are led by Air Commodore Anisur Rahman and Group Captain Kazi Mazharul Karim respectively. It is expected that, Bangladesh Air Force will achieve confidence and respect of Mali Government and general public by discharging their duties in mitigating conflict with efficiency, professionalism and sincerity. Prior to their departure for Mali, special Monajat was offered seeking excellence of the contingents at departure lounge of the Hazrat Shahjahal International Airport (HSIA). Senior Air Force officials were present at the airport and saw them off. With the departure of 1st group, deployment of Bangladesh Airfield Support & Management Unit-1 is completed and subsequently, Bangladesh Utility Aviation Unit-1 will also depart on a later date. It is mentionable that 16 members advanced team of the contingent has already been deployed in Mali on 09 September. Earlier, Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal Muhammad Enamul Bari briefed the contingent members at BAF Base Bashar on 09 December 2014.
